Why Denny Hamlin will not win the chase in 2014:nscs_denny_hamlin1.png.main

Denny races for Coach Joe Gibbs, which you could make the argument for is the best team in NASCAR. Yes, Hendricks Motorsports has 6-Time, but between Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin – all in Toyotas, they make for a pretty dominant squad. Denny’s problem is he is the 3rd wheel. How do you think Jeff Gordon feels Denny? You probably aren’t getting as much love from the Coach as you’d like eh? Denny’s time may have come and gone at Gibbs. He had his chance a few years ago, and after that tough injury last year he never really found his stride again. Could be another long frustrating year for the #11 FedEx.

Why Denny Hamlin will win the chase in 2014:

Like Gary Bertier told Coach Yoast, “Coach, I’m hurt. I’m not dead.” This has to be what Denny Hamlin was telling Coach Gibbs all offseason. And he’s right. Last year he was just hurt. A tough lick like he took would sideline even the toughest SOB’s in the sport. But Denny is still hungry. And he knows that he’s sitting 3rd on Team Gibbs. And he knows most people forgot that back in 2010 he finished 2nd in the Chase to Jimmie with 8 wins. Freaking 8 wins. Denny is and can be dominant. And just when you forget about him, there he is to grab a win. There’s not as many on the schedule as he’d like, but don’t be surprise if Denny grabs just about every win at those half mile tracks this year. The #11 is looking to return to glory, and you know this year he is going to be hungrier than ever.
